Volunteer days - Every Saturday in April and May
From Saturday 19 April, we will be starting our 2025 season of volunteer days which will continue each Saturday through April and May.
It would be most excellent to see old friends and make some new ones. All capacities and ages welcome, we’ve got a wide variety of tasks to do. We start from 10am, and there will be a hearty home cooked lunch using veg from the garden. If you are interested in coming along, contact Ronan on 0894032153 or email shybynaturefarm@gmail.com.
What’s been happening on the farm
We are getting ready for the new tunnel going up in the next couple of weeks, have lots of seeds sown ready for transplanting, compost has arrived for our new no dig beds, been planting trees, doing some fencing and looking after the sheep and donkeys.
It’s all go here, now that we’ve welcomed our international volunteers to the farm - we’ve got folks from the US, Australia, Poland and France. We’ve also had some great help already from the UK and France before, as well as our regular local volunteers and an excellent TY student, a visit from some friends from the UK and US who got their hands dirty, plus hosted a farm walk for Donegal ETB’s Regenerative Agriculture course.
We are now certified organic!
Delighted to be able to tell you that as of the 1 January this year we are now fully certified organic, having completed the conversion process. This means - as it was before - that we are both farming regeneratively, improving soil health and the wider ecosystem, and that you can be confident that our veg is fully organic. It’s been a very interesting learning process and we feel it has definitely strengthened our knowledge and how we do things. Now we are looking forward to getting out our organic veg boxes later this year!
Limited slots available for organic seasonal mixed salad boxes
Do you run a cafe, restaurant or other business in south Donegal that would like organic salad boxes weekly or occasionally? Grown here on the farm, our salad boxes feature seasonal salad leaves with lots of different tastes and textures, and come in a range of sizes: small (1kg); medium (1.5kg); and large (2kg).
